Occupation: Order picker for a warehouse
How did you learn about CrossFit Warehouse?
When I first decided to start CrossFit I looked up gyms in the area. Warehouse had the best reviews but too far out of my area. Once I decided to leave my old gym it was an easy choice coming here.
How has CrossFit Warehouse changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?
It changed everything. The level of workouts are a little more challenging and I need to push myself more. I started focusing on mobility and flexibility more and more in my daily life as well. The coaches specifically really taught me its okay to scale back the weight and focus on getting movements right rather than setting high numbers. Im much less focused on my weight than I ever was and focus more on a lifestyle that will keep me performing in the gym at a high level.
List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Warehouse:
I’d love to improve my squat and deadlift weights, as well as improving my clean form. Betting conditioning is a big goal, being able to run better or move through the WOD at a better level. Long term I’d really like to figure out double-unders and handstand walks and improving my pull-ups.
What do you like most about CrossFit Warehouse?
I genuinely love walking in the door at the gym. Its the one place I’ve felt accepted and welcomed the second I came in the first time. I love the atmosphere and how open and big it is, there’s so much room and equipment. I also really love we can do WODs outside.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Handstand push-ups and hang cleans
What is your least favorite CrossFit movement? Thrusters and overhead squats
What movements would make up your Favorite WOD?
400m run, deadlifts, rope climbs and hang cleans
What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet?
Cutting out the weekend cookies! My diet is pretty clean regularly but I need to cut out the unnecessary sugar better and less snacking after dinner. It’s good generally 90% of the time.
Favorite movie: Speed or Scream
Favorite music artist/band: Gianni & Kyle and Greta Van Fleet
Favorite song to work out to: Lowlife by Neck Deep
Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life:
I’ve lost around 60 lbs from when I first started CrossFit. Gone up and down but overall have kept it off.
List a few things we don’t know about you:
While I’m getting better, I’m incredibly shy. I was in a fraternity when I was in college. I really love basketball and the NBA. I’m attempting to beat every Mario game in order. I haven’t done much traveling but if I ever go to San Diego I’m never coming back. I’m down to do any event or activity almost instantly, it would take a lot for me to say no to doing something.
In 10 words or less, what does CF mean to you? Everything. It changed my life.
What advice would you give to someone looking to join CrossFit for the first time?
It’s more than okay to scale a workout. When I first started I wish I was given better advice and told my form was bad or I was using too much weight. Move better not bigger. Scale first and then make changes.
